Authorities have released the name of the man killed Thursday after a sport utility vehicle and a minivan collided on state Highway 29 in the town of Seneca. Albert Voelz, 79, of Tigerton, was the driver of a minivan that was apparently attempting to cross the lanes of eastbound Highway 29 to get to Old 29 Road shortly after 4:30 p.m.

Delores M. Wasserford, 85, formerly of Lyndhurst, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 16, 2014, at Maple Lane Health Center in Shawano, where she had been a resident for the past three years. Elinor I. “Nonie” Strong, 93, of Shawano, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014. Born on Aug. 29, 1921, in Brillion, she is the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Lambordena (VanHolls) Richter. On Sept. 3, 1940, Elinor was united in marriage to Harry J. Strong, who preceded her in death. Elinor was president of the Clintonville VFW in 1952 and was the worthy matron twice for the Clintonville Chapter Eastern Star.

Dolores M. Boyum (nee Wrobleski), 87, of Waterford, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at The Cottages Assisted Living in Shawano on Sept. 10, 2014. Dolores was born in Greenbush, Minnesota, on Feb. 13, 1927. On March 17, 1950, she married Philip C. Boyum in Milwaukee. In her early life, Dolores worked at Globe Union and later at Sta-Rite for many years.

Most Wisconsin public schools and school districts met or exceeded expectations for student achievement last school year, numbers that are comparable with 2012, data released by the state Department of Public Instruction on Tuesday showed.
