Dennis L. Cairns, 70, of Bonduel, died at home on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, having lived a lifelong journey with Type I diabetes since childhood. Born on July 15, 1944, in River Falls, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Florence (Cornwell) Cairns.
On Aug. 28, 1965, Dennis was united in marriage to Karen J. Hart in Menomonie. Dennis stayed active as a member of the Masons, a perpetual member of Black River Falls Lodge No. 74, serving as past master in Evergreen Lodge No. 93, Stevens Point, and a current member of Masonwoods Lodge No. 368, Cecil. He was an active member of the Bonduel Snowmobile Club and Our Savior Lutheran Church in the town of Lessor. Dennis was the village president of Nelsonville and a volunteer for the Nelsonville Fire Department. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, visiting his uncle’s cabin, and watching NASCAR, the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Karen; his sons, Brian (Kris) Cairns, of Krakow, and their children, Dalton and Drew, Brett (Aya) Cairns, of Waterford, and their children, Angela and Ashton; three sisters, Barb (Art “Bucky”) Wells, Pam Beckett, of Portage, and Vicky Nelson, of Dane. He is further survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation gathering will be held before the service at 9:30 a.m. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 19, 2014, at Our Savior Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roland Lindeman officiating.
