To the editor: In the early 1950s Hansen Glove, of Clintonville, moved their hand-detailed gloves to Mexico. I crocheted button holes for these gloves and received 75 cents. Starting wages were 49 cents. Our state and federal highway must all have union scale workers and pay. Double time and triple as work is needed. Union scale is breaking our America. People can’t exist at minimum wage.

To the editor: Supervisor Faehling, what do you mean when you say this missing $1,000 is just water over the dam? If it was your personal money, would you feel the same way? I must commend Mr. Erdmann when he said government must be transparent. If there is nothing to hide in the Sheriff’s Department, they should welcome this investigation. Al Teetzen, Shawano

To the editor: We are being bombarded by TV and radio ads promoting our next governor. The profusion of ads is the result of the Citizen’s United Supreme Court ruling that allowed seemingly unlimited caps on campaign donations.

To the editor: I am writing today about the election for sheriff. Mr. Bieber said in an Aug. 9 article in The Shawano Leader that he is not there to save lives, and we are responsible for our own safety. He said 99 percent of the time he’s going to be finding your dead body. If Mr. Bieber isn’t about being there to protect and serve, then I have to wonder why on earth he’s even wearing a badge. Randy Wright is the exact opposite of Mr. Bieber.

Clintonville’s interim city administrator says the city is in good enough financial shape to use some of its fund balance to balance its 2015 budget rather than cut staff or services. Shawano Police Department Oct. 29 Police logged 20 incidents, including the following: Disturbance — Police responded to a disturbance in the parking lot at Walmart, 1244 E. Green Bay St. Disturbance — A couple having a dispute came to the Shawano Police Department. The woman reported her boyfriend was following her. They were interviewed separately and no probable cause was found for any police action.
