The Oconto County Board on Thursday delayed action on a plan to freeze members’ compensation and strip the County Board chairman of medical and dental insurance. The resolution was pulled after Supervisor Greg Sekela said it was illegally brought forward. An Oconto Falls man, 53, was cited for failure to yield right of way from a stop sign Jan. 5. He was driving west on Cedar Street at Chestnut Avenue, pulled into the intersection from a stop sign and was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by an Oconto Falls man, 63. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage. No injuries were reported. A 29-year-old man was arrested Jan.

The Suring High School Environmental Club’s effort to install water bottle filling stations in the school recently received limited approval by the School Board. The club encouraged reusing drinking containers to help decrease plastic waste such as empty water and soda bottles. The School Board on Jan. 14 heard a proposal to share costs with the club to buy and install two water fountains.

Proceedings from Jan. 22 A sentencing hearing after revocation was held for David M. Lonzo, 56, of Green Bay, on felony charges of second-degree sexual assault/treatment facility, which occurred Jan. 23, 2011. He was sentenced to a total of 10 years: six years incarceration, with Department of Corrections credit of 472 days, and four years extended supervision, with the condition of no contact with the victim or any minors.
