Cat owners have regulations to meet, too
Last week, dog owner’s responsibilities were addressed in this column. Since the article came out, I have been contacted by residents who asked me to write about the ordinance regarding cats. Here are portions of Ordinance 7.13 addressing regulation and licensing of animals: (a) License required.
The fair’s afoot, so the writer takes a drive
For the lovers of hot and humid weather, you have had your share of it this summer. In fact, much of the Shawano County Fair was held in that climate, along with some rain showers. This was not a year that I was able to spend quality time at the fair, due to the foot surgery I had in June. The surgery seems so long ago; however, any surgery on a foot seems to take a long time to recover from.
My days at the fair
The 2015 Shawano County Fair is now history. The rides have left, the animals have either been auctioned off or taken back home, the displays have been torn down, and all the vendors’ booths and food stalls cleaned and returned to storage status. I write like I know what happens. I don’t.

John F. Buckett
John F. Buckett, 72, of Leopolis, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, in Appleton. He was born on Aug. 29, 1943, in Norway Township, Racine County, to the late Francis and Leona (Haig) Buckett. On Feb. 3, 1979, John was united in marriage to Susan Resch in East Troy. She preceded him in death on Aug.31, 2011. He owned and operated a dairy farm in the town of Seneca since 1982. John enjoyed hunting and motorcycles.

Bonduel finalizes plans for Founders Day
Bonduel will celebrate its 13th annual Founders Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 19. There will be special events held throughout the downtown area. More than 100 arts, crafts and food vendors will be located downtown on Green Bay Street and First Streets. Local school, church and civic groups also will be selling specialty items.
