The Suring fifth-grade classes participated in their annual owl pellet project during the first semester. Students in Charlie Breed and Mitchell Szwet’s classes worked on the unit for two weeks. Students were given an owl pellet wrapped in tin foil, a tray, tools and charts. Students dissected the pellets, cleaned and sorted the bones, then reassembled and labeled the bones using diagrams.

Jerilyn Rosemary Grignon, 74, of Neopit, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, in Shawano surrounded by her family. Jerilyn was born in Shawano on Nov. 13, 1941, the daughter of the late Jerome and Sunday (Tourtillott) Grignon. After graduating from Shawano High School, she attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, earning a bachelor’s degree.

Kathryn J. Waubanascum, 71, of Neopit, passed away on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at her home. Kathryn was born in Shawano on Oct. 7, 1944, the daughter of the late Merton and Victoria (Grignon) Everson. She was united in marriage to William “Junior” Waubanascum Jr. on Feb. 1, 1969, in Shawano. Kathryn worked as a teacher’s aide for 22 years at the Menominee Middle School. She was a member of St.
