• Cory L. Lohman, 45, Shawano, pleaded guilty Sept. 29 to possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a felony. Judge William Kussel Jr. levied fines and court costs totaling $906.

• Christopher Paul Bowser, 34, Green Bay, was charged Sept. 28 with two counts of felony bail jumping and a misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property. Judge Hannah Schuchart set a $1,500 cash bond and adjourned his initial appearance until Oct. 15.

• Tasha M. Carter, 36, Pulaski, was charged Sept. 28 with felony bail jumping. Schuchart set a $2,500 cash bond and adjourned her initial appearance until Oct. 15.

Shawano Community High School on Sept. 26 honored five new members when they were inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame and Coaches’ Hall of Fame.

The honorees were Allen Werbelow, Mackenzie (Buss) Wilson, Mark Tomashek, Robert (Bob) Jansen and Jim Allbaugh.

Wins haven’t exactly been adding up this season for the Shawano football team.

Heading into their Bay Conference game with Waupaca on Oct. 2 on the Comets’ home field, the Hawks were in the midst of a four-game losing streak that began after the team’s only win over Lakeland.

The losing streak is over, as the Hawks returned home with a 42-26 win following a 275-yard, three-touchdown effort from Marcus Brezgel.

Suring High School’s 8-player football team has dropped its last two games after starting the season 5-0.

On the other hand, the Eagles can add a conference championship to its list of accomplishments this season.

From fairgrounds to classrooms, community parks to college labs, 4-H youth in Shawano County are proving they’re not just ready for the future, they’re beyond ready.

During National 4-H Week, celebrated Oct. 5-11, local clubs are showcasing how 4-H equips young people with the skills, confidence, and resilience to lead in a world full of opportunity and change.
