Shawano’s girls’ tennis team won two of three matches on the second day of a meet hosted by Bay Port High School.

After winning all four singles matches, the Hawks defeated Green Bay Preble 5-1 and also shut out Menominee (Michigan) 7-0. Shawano lost 6-1 to Rhinelander.

Shawano is now 2-4 on the season.

Bay North Conference Mini-Meet #1

Bonduel golfers placed third and Shawano golfers were fourth among the five teams competing at Cherry Hills Golf Course in Sturgeon Bay.

Seymour won the meet with a 183, followed by Oconto at 245, Bonduel at 247, Shawano at 248 and Sturgeon Bay at 261.

Pulaski opened its 2026 girls tennis season with a 2-1 performance at Appleton West on Aug. 17.

The Red Raiders lost 4-3 to their hosts, but defeated Appleton East 4-3 and Kaukauna 7-0.

Shawano opened its season the same day at Bay Port, going 0-3.

The Hawks lost 4-3 to Howards Grove, 4-3 to Eau Claire Regis and 6-1 to Marshfield.

Titletown Auction Company has announced the next phase of the court-authorized liquidation of Newcap, Inc.’s non-real-estate assets, with two separate online auctions planned for the Newcap facility located at 1201 Main St., Oconto.

• Glory A. Johnson, 38, Denmark, pleaded no contest Aug. 10 to two counts of possession of methamphetamine, two counts of felony bail jumping throwing or discharging bodily fluids at a public safety worker or prosecutor, and three misdemeanor charges of resisting or obstructing an officer. Judge William Kussel Jr. withheld sentencing and placed her on three years of probation with conditions.

• Cody K. Race, 37, Pound, pleaded no contest June 24 to aggravated battery intending bodily harm. Judge Jay Conley sentenced him Aug. 11 to three and a half years in prison followed by three years of extended supervision with conditions.
