I take Merlin with me on my walks these days to help me identify the early spring migrants that are finding their way back to Wisconsin. Merlin, a free birding app available from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, like the magician of old, works its magic by helping to identify birds you are seeing or hearing.

The Lena Pathfinders will hold an annual rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 29 at the American Legion Hall, 316 W. Main St., Lena.

The Pathfinders are the youth organization within the world Seventh-day Adventist church. This sale provides funds for the young people at the local level to enjoy club activities and participate in community service projects.

Both candidates for the Wisconsin Supreme Court have trial court and appellate court experience. However, Judge Maria Lazar has superior qualifications for the job.

Judge Lazar spent more years on the trial court bench, handling a variety of cases. Ms. Taylor served in Dane County, where courts are restricted to a particular area of law.

Blizzard Elsa won’t soon be forgotten.

The National Weather Service said Shawano County received 33 inches of snow March 15-16. Cleanup went on for days after, with the best remedy being warmer temperatures that melted some of the piles.

Blizzard Elsa dropped more than 2 feet of snow on northeastern Wisconsin between March 14-16.

Not many weather events shut down everything, but the recent snowstorm that has been dubbed the Ides of March blizzard because the bulk of it occurred March 15 left schools across the state with closed doors.

Two more plaintiffs have alleged sexual abuse and misconduct by high school staff and signed onto a lawsuit against the Oconto Falls School Board.

Cass Casper, lead counsel on the case with Disparti Law Group, made the announcement March 18, one week after the original lawsuit was filed in federal court.
