A bill that prohibits strip searches of students conducted by school personnel is on its way to the governor’s desk for his signature. State Rep. David Steffen, R-Howard, and state Sen. Eric Wimberger, R-Green Bay, introduced Senate Bill 111 in response to an incident at the Suring School District involving six teenage girls being ordered to strip down to their underwear by then-superintendent Kelly Casper.

A Cecil woman died Jan. 28 after the car she was driving collided with a semitrailer truck in the Town of Oconto Falls. Oconto County Sheriff Todd Skarban said the emergency dispatch center was notified at 8:18 a.m. about a two-vehicle crash on state Highway 32 near the intersection with County Road CC.
