Grant will help Bonduel build its future

Bonduel is one of 10 rural Wisconsin communities that will get help meeting its biggest economic development needs and planning for its long-term goals. Bonduel officials preparing for second TID
An existing tax incremental financing district is closing, and planning for a second one is underway in Bonduel. Last month, the village board agreed to terminate Tax Incremental District (TID) 1 and allocate the 2025 increment for affordable housing. Also, trustees agreed to proceed with planning for a second TID. “TID 1 was slated to close in 2024,” said Michelle Maroszek, village clerk-treasurer.

Menominee Clans website returning to CMN
The Menominee Clans website is coming home. Since the early 2000s, the original iteration of the site has resided on the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s servers. On March 22, the public is invited to College of Menominee Nation to witness the relaunching celebration of the updated site under the care of CMN. The Menominee Clans website is created based upon the research of the late Menominee culture keepers James F. Frechette Jr.

4 Shawano County Library branches to change hours
Beginning April 1, several branches of Shawano County Library will have new hours of operation: Birnamwood, Bonduel, Tigerton and Wittenberg. “This change was made to offer additional library hours during the mornings when we see more patron traffic,” said Nancy Bell, library director. “Branches will be open mornings, afternoons and one evening past 5 p.m. each week as well as their usual Saturday hours.” • Birnamwood, 337 Main St.: 10 a.m.

Birnamwood freshman heading to All-Star Challenge

Survey: Bonduel area voters support $15M referendum
The results of a survey from the Bonduel School District gauging whether voters would be interested in another referendum to upgrade facilities yielded positive results, but officials are going to wait to start planning for more improvements. The November 2023 survey showed that 67% of 518 respondents would be in favor of a $10 million referendum, with an estimated $1.06 impact to tax rates.

Arrest made for 3 recent drug overdoses
Three recent drug overdoses on the Menominee Reservation, one being fatal, were tied to a Keshena who was indicted this week for fentanyl distribution. According to the indictment, Warren J. Grignon, 41, allegedly sold fentanyl to three individuals on Dec. 23. One person, identified in the three-count indictment died from using the fentanyl provided Grignon.
