April 27 Six members of the Shawano Hawks track and field team received invitations to compete in the elite Hale Distance Night in West Allis. In this unique meet, only the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs are contested, and it draws many of the best runners from across the state. All runners must meet qualifying standards to be offered a chance to compete, and it is in many ways a preview to the Wisconsin state track meet.

April 26 Shawano 7, Xavier 6 Dylan Hodkiewicz got the win on the mound, pitching the last four innings in relief and securing the 7-6 win over Xavier. April 26 Seymour Thunder Invitational Pulaski golfers placed second and Oconto Falls was eighth at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Seymour. The Red Raiders scored a 329, just 14 strokes behind De Pere’s top score of 315. The Panthers scored 393. Pulaski’s individual scores were Colin Schultz and Connor Burant each with a 79, Brady Hayward at 84 and Zachary Valeria with an 87.

Saturday, April 27 Landon Lardinois scored the Pulaski lacrosse team’s only goal in the third period in a 15-1 loss to Oregon in Wisconsin Dells. Joshua Huettl had 17 saves for the Red Raiders.

It’s been a long time since I read anything by J.A. Jance. “Proof of Life” is one of a long list of books featuring J.P. Beaumon. As one of her earliest works, it contains information about Beau’s history, including his marriages and career as a Seattle police detective. In this book, Beau has retired, gotten his knees replaced and become very restless. Finally sober, he has mended fences with his adult children.
