Chloe Rose Zernicke, 13, of Bonduel, passed away tragically on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. Chloe was born in Green Bay on June 24, 2010, daughter of Derick and Amy (Edler) Zernicke. She was baptized into Christ on July 11, 2010. Her godparents are Tricia Kurey, Craig Nowak and the late Dustin Zernicke. Chloe confirmed her faith on May 5, 2024, at St. Pau Lutheran Church. Chloe was an active, sweet, happy girl who loved life.

Edith Marie Sellen, 100, Lena, died Wednesday, May 15, 2024, surrounded by her family at The Cottages at Meadowlands in Oconto Falls. She was born to Albert and Alma (Johnson) Anderson on Nov. 21, 1923, in the Town of Oconto Falls. She married Clifford Sellen Aug. 27, 1949, at the Oconto Gospel Chapel where she served as church secretary and Sunday school teacher. Early on, Edie was a secretary for the ag extension of Oconto County.

Loren R. Burrack, 71, of Suring, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Loren was born on March 17, 1953, to the late Harold Sr. and Delores (Waskow) Burrack in Manchester, Iowa. He was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point, Iowa. The family moved to Suring in 1957. Loren was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Gillett. In his younger years, Loren enjoyed horseback riding. He served his country in the U.S.

A retired journalist who teaches at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College’s Shawano campus is on a mission to turn the Wisconsin 2nd Senate District blue, and she made stops May 15 in Shawano and Keshena to meet with people with the message that the Democrats will do a better job of looking out for all of Wisconsin than Republicans. The Shawano County Fair is seeking candidates for its 2024 Fairest of the Fair. Application deadline is June 2, and applicants must be 17-23 years of age as of Jan. 1. Individual and group interviews will be held June 15 at the fair office.

A 13-year-old girl died May 15 as the result of an ATV crash south of Bonduel. About 8:30 p.m., the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call indicating there was an ATV crash in the area of Landstad and Two Creek roads. The caller advised there was a girl who was unconscious and not breathing as a result of the crash. Multiple law enforcement officers responded, as well as emergency medical service personnel.

A Green Bay woman is expected to get a prison sentence of 10-15 years after being found guilty of first-degree reckless homicide and theft May 16. Stephany L. French, 29, of Green Bay, pleaded no contest to one count of first-degree reckless homicide by delivering drugs and one count of theft from a person or corpse.
