The Seeds to Service class at Gillett Elementary took a big step toward its community garden installation Thursday as it partnered with Agsource Laboratories of Bonduel to learn about soil.

Eagles win on Chevalier's slam
Lowell Chevalier’s walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning Saturday lifted the Menominee Indian High School baseball team to a 14-10 win over Crandon in Keshena.
Chevalier was 2-for-3 with five RBIs on the day to lead the Eagles (5-1, 4-1 Central Wisconsin Conference-10).
Ryan Koenigs, of the Department of Natural Resources, expects sturgeon will be spawning Tuesday at the Shawano dam.
“The fish are already there; it is just a matter of them getting active,” said Koenigs, who also indicated the water temperature was reported at 51 degrees Sunday at the dam.
Ruth H. Krueger, 88, passed to eternal life Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Ruth was born in Shawano County on July 2, 1925, to the late John and Alma Krueger.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Leo and Elmer, and a sister, Alvera Krueger.
Ruth worked for many years at the Industries for the Blind and was very active with the Badger Association for the Blind.
She is survived by many other relatives and friends.

Robert Neta, better known as Bob, Rob or Robbie, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison on Dec. 26, 2013, at age 68. He had recently moved from Chetek to Madison to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Bob had been dealing with chronic health issues for a number of years.
Bob was born on Aug. 18, 1945, in Kissimmee, Fla., to Elaine (Weissenborn) Neta and John W. Neta. He was the youngest of three boys.
