Glynes “Goosie” Frechette, 76, of Mountain, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015. She was born in Oconto on Feb. 12, 1938, to the late Luke and Beatrice (Eckert) Heroux.
Glynes Heroux married Harold Frechette on July 29, 1961. She enjoyed waitressing at Lakeside Inn, where she loved being around people and made a lot of friends throughout the years.
An Oconto Falls Boy Scout will create six Little Free Libraries in the Oconto Falls community as his Eagle Scout project.
Aaron Gonnering, of Boy Scout Troop 1024, presented his Little Free Libraries proposal to the Oconto Falls City Council, which approved the project.
Alderman Kevin Rusch said he thought it was a great idea, not only for an Eagle Scout project, but for the community.

The Lena Knights of Columbus will join other councils throughout the state in selling raffle tickets for the Wisconsin State Council’s annual charity raffle.
The prize list consists of $115,000 paid to 35 winners, including a $50,000 first-place prize. Second prize is $25,000 or a Street Glide Harley. The third prize is $10,000, and the fourth and fifth prizes are $5,000 each.
The Oconto Hospital Citizens’ Foundation received a $250,000 donation from the K.C. Stock Foundation Inc. in support of Oconto Hospital. The foundation was notified of the gift on Dec. 19.
“What a delightful Christmas gift for the foundation,” said Dr. John Honish, president Oconto Hospital Citizens’ Foundation.

N.E.W. Credit Union members can show support for their local high school when they purchase checks with a shadow image in the middle of the check representing one of the five Oconto County high school mascots.
The checks include a Lena Wildcat, Suring Eagle, Oconto Falls Panther, Oconto Blue Devil or Gillett Tiger.
When a member purchases a packet of the checks, the credit union donates $1 to the corresponding school.
Suring School District voters in April will decide the fate of a referendum that asks taxpayers for $3.5 million over five years.
The School Board on Wednesday unanimously approved a resolution to exceed the revenue cap by $700,000 for each of the next five years beginning with the 2015-2016 school year.
