To the editor: Recently I attended one of the public meetings on the Shawano Community Middle School referendum. After hearing the facts, I’d encourage our voting-age citizens to vote in favor of this referendum. The middle school is the oldest school facility in the district, and 65 percent of the referendum is to replace and upgrade the HVAC systems that were original to the building in 1954.

Lowell “Blackie” C. Luebke, 91, of De Pere, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. He was born March 13, 1924, son of the late Carl and Louise (Kirchner) Luebke. On Sept. 25, 1946, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Mastey at Assumption B.V.M. Church in Pulaski. Lowell owned and operated a farm in Laney for many years.

Kay E. Riemer, 48, of Shawano, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at her home. Kay Ellen Riemer was born May 24, 1967, in Clintonville to Dawn (Fraedrich) Riemer and the late Donald Riemer. She graduated from Marion High School in 1986 and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, town of Pella, Shawano County. Kay worked at Lakeland Industries in Shawano doing various tasks and helping out those in need.
