Kandace K. “Kandy” Brown, (Kassube/Pamonicutt), 56 years young, was called home on Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Shawano, with her loving family by her side.
Kandy was born June 30, 1957, to Christine (Waupoose) King. On Aug. 1, 2009, she was united in marriage to Roy Brown. She attend the Shawano schools and eventually earned her GED in Milwaukee.
Kandy had a very special way with people and was passionate about helping others. These qualities helped her as a counselor for the Maehnowesekiyah Treatment Center, a counselor/clinical supervisor for the Ho-Chunk Nation and as a counselor for the Shawano County Department of Community Programs.
During her lifetime Kandy enjoyed going to Bingo, loved pow-wows, traveling, music and Green Bay Packers games. One of the greatest joys in her life was spending time with her grandchildren.
Kandy is survived by her husband, Roy Brown, and her granddaughter, Precious Pamonicutt, whom she was raising; her son, John Kassube (Tara), of Shawano and a stepson, Shawn (Kathy) Pamonicutt, of Shawano; her stepdaughters, Zena (Olivia, Sean and Alexandrea), Cassy (Mari, Jon and Myia) and Angie (Florence, Larry Jr. Autum and Nevaeh), all of Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sapatis, Jeffrey James, Shayleece, Sonny Man, Alicia and Danica.
Kandy is further survived by 11 brothers and sisters, Bruce Kassube Jr., of Cecil, Raymond King Sr., of Keshena, Rosemary King, of Keshena, Kathaleen (Dana) King, of Neopit, Sherry (Melvin) James, of Keshena, Kevin (Sandy) Johnson, of Green Bay, Georgia (Brian) Neconish, of Shawano, Melody (Merle) Johnson, of Keshena, Guy Johnson, of Green Bay, Robert Johnson, of Gresham, and Michelle (Kenny) Johnson, of Gresham; sister-in-law, Mitzi King; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her best and closest friend, Diane Thunder, and family.
Kandy was preceded in death by her mother, Christine; brothers, Michael T. King Sr., Darwin J. “Butch” King, Leonard “LB” Johnson, George Johnson and Brian Scott Johnson; and a sister in-law, Sylvia “Tippy” Kassube.
A funeral Mass for Kandace K. Brown will be celebrated on Thursday, April 10, at 10 a.m. at St Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena. The Rev. David McElroy, O. Praem, will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the Our Lady of the Woods Cemetery, West Branch. Relatives and friends may call at the Mitzi King residence, W2681 Chief Wis-Ka-Noh Road, Warrington Addition in Keshena, until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, when the procession will leave for church. A parish wake service will be conducted at the King residence on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
