Jeffrey W. Sousek

Jeffrey Warren Sousek, 48, of Leopolis, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 7, 2014, doing what he enjoyed — working in the woods. Born on May 30, 1965, in Clintonville, he was the son of Warren and Judy (Schewe) Sousek. Jeff was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Grant. A few years later, he and his family became members at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Leopolis. Jeff attended Marion High School, graduating in 1983. Upon graduation he continued to work with his father on the home farm where Jeff lived his entire life. A few years later, Jeff became self-employed, working in the outdoors, logging and making firewood. He had been employed at Genex Inc in Shawano since 2008. In the past, Jeff played softball, baseball for the Leopolis Bulldogs, bowled on a league and was currently going to be pitching horseshoes in a league. In all seasons you could find Jeff riding around on his 4-wheeler. Most recently, you would also find him with his beagle, Mitsy, riding in the back box. Jeff loved to go rabbit hunting with the beagles he owned throughout his life. He never missed a deer hunting season since the year he was old enough to go. This year Jeff was also looking forward to going elk hunting in Colorado, which would have been his second trip. Along with all the outdoor activities, Jeff also like meeting up with his friends and playing cards. Jeff is survived by his parents, Warren and Judy Sousek; his brother, Tim Sousek, of Leopolis; grandmother, Lucille Schewe, of Caroline; uncle and aunt, Ron and Ruth Schewe, of Appleton; cousin, Scott (Mandy) Schewe and their children, Kendall and Brynn Schewe, of Menasha; as well as his many friends. Jeff was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alex and Jean Sousek; his maternal grandfather, Herb Schewe; an uncle, Randy Schewe; and a cousin, Sara Schewe. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, W11105 County Road M, in the town of Pella with the Rev. Dennis Creswell officiating. Burial will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Leopolis. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and at the church in Pella on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jesse Seefeldt, Bob Kristof, Brad Leatherberry and Larry Kersten, as well as to the first responders and the ambulance personnel for doing all they could. www.swedbergfuneralhome.com
