Haffner makes it to semifinals in 2024 WIAA Girls 3-Point Challenge

Gresham senior Madolyn Haffner was among four girls to make it to the semifinals in the 2024 WIAA Girls 3-Point Challenge on March 9 in Ashwaubenon. Lindsey Schadewalt of New Glarus won the challenge and set a new record for total points. Ten participants were selected for the event based on stats information entered by coaches into the WisSports.net database.
Shawano male, female players earn unanimous selections for all-conference
Shawano’s Leah Nordin and Logan Sipple each were unanimous selections for the Bay Conference first team all-conference teams for the 2023-24 season. Nordin, a sophomore who plays guard and forward, hit the 1,000-point mark this season.
Panthers represented with first team all-conference picks for girls basketball, boys wrestling
Oconto Falls sophomore Rylie Shallow earned first team honors as guard as well as the defensive all-conference team for the North Eastern Conference in 2023-24. Freshman Isaiah Holz and senior Garrett Ganter also earned all-conference honors for boys wrestling. Gavin Paul Kowalski, 12, of Wittenberg, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 11, 2024, at his home. Gavin was born on Sept. 30, 2011, at Madigan Army Hospital in Washington, the beloved son of Ted and Christine (Czerwonka) Kowalski. He was currently in sixth grade at Wittenberg Elementary-Middle School.
Goldfinches brightening up area homes
We are seeing American goldfinches in the company of house finches at our feeders now. The breeding males seem to glow in the sunlight as they show off their bright yellow plumage. Accented by black wings with white markings, dark eyes, a black cap and stout orange bill, this is a handsome bird.
