Twig’s seeks Shawano’s golden children
Twig’s Beverage is on a quest to find some golden children. They could be the ones who help out in the classroom or bake cookies with Grandma. They might help out with a food pantry or stand up for their classmates against bullies. Whoever they are, Jaime Lee wants to take them under her wing and show them how to be part of the positive side of Shawano in a new contest where they continue to promote the local Sun Drop soda.

Comedy City bringing its antics to Abrams
Comedy City will bring its group of improv performers to Abrams on May 4 for a night of fun and laughter. The De Pere troupe has performed improvisational theater for over 30 years. Nothing is scripted. By incorporating audience suggestions, the performers create a series of short scenes, songs and sketches that keep the audience laughing. This event is presented by Glovers Bar and Grill and Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. Doors open at 6 p.m.

USDA issues crop progress report for week ending April 14
Wisconsin had 3.3 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending April 14, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Despite a warm weekend, cool and wet conditions earlier in the week kept equipment out of the fields throughout most of the state. Scattered corn planting was reported in eastern and southern Wisconsin.

Registration open for summer conservation camps
The Wisconsin Land and Water Conservation Association announced that registration is open for the organization’s annual summer conservation camps. Open to middle and high school students, these camps provide educational outdoor experiences, foster an appreciation for nature and introduce a variety of careers in natural resources and conservation. The Middle School Conservation Camp is held at Upham Woods in Wisconsin Dells.

Janet M. Bartz
Janet Mary (Matravers) Bartz, 78, of Oconto, passed away to the Lord unexpectedly Saturday, April 13, 2024. She was born March 16, 1946, to parents Clair (Bo) and Alice (Carey) Matravers. Janet truly lived her life through the simplest pleasures. She cherished her husband of almost 60 years, Darrell. They were nearly inseparable and were always found together. Her faith and family were her main focus and dedication.
