Sheriff’s department seeks ARPA funds
Shawano County Sheriff George Lenzner said even though he was told to scrap all future ARPA fund requests, he asked the county public safety committee to recommend a pair of projects on behalf of the sheriff’s department. And the committee agreed, sending both requests to the executive committee for consideration. Lenzner first said the county is required by state statute to have a dive team.

Bonduel, Oconto Falls girls golf teams earn academic honors
The Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin (GCAW) announced the recipients of the 13th annual Team Academic All-State award, established to recognize high school golf teams with the highest “team” GPAs (team is defined as the five golfers on the roster for the girls’ fall 2023 WIAA regional tournament). Pulaski’s girls soccer season ended June 5 with a 2-1 loss to Nicolet in WIAA sectional action. The Red Raiders were 4-2-3 in the regular season in the Fox River Classic Conference and 14-5-4 overall. Veronica Decker led the team with 34 goals while Ellie Mangold had eight. Leading with four assists was Brynlee Sturdivant. Sarah Johnson had three.
M&O Conference athletes earn honors
Lena High School’s Logan Graef and Tyler Shallow are among those who earned Marinette and Oconto Conference all-conference selections in baseball. Graef, a senior, was named to the first team for the infield.
