The Shawano County Historical Society and the Shawano Parks and Recreation Department, in cooperation with the Shawano American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War, and AMVETS, will be presenting another program in the Headstones series on the Shawano veterans of the Korean War at 5:30 p.m. Sept.

Angel and Garrett Carter have one wish — to grow their family. To say they’ve gone through more anguish than a couple should to achieve that dream is an understatement. They’ve lost three babies to premature birth. Married in 2017, the Carters were ready to start their family in 2019.

Lois Dorothy (Passuello) Blank, 86, formerly of Birnamwood, died on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in Owosso, Michigan, in her beautiful apartment at Oliver Woods Assisted Living Facility. Her family and beloved cats, Kitty-Kitty and Squirt, were at her bedside before her passing. Lois was born in Birnamwood on June 19, 1937, the daughter of Victor and Leona Sophie (Kelm) Passuello. She graduated from Birnamwood High School in 1955.

Heart of the Valley Metro Championship Aug. 19 Shawano golfers placed third out of 18 teams at the Hearth of the Valley Championship at High Cliff Golf Course on Aug. 19. The Oconto County Historical Society will begin its fall speaker series Sept. 5 by looking at northeast Wisconsin’s lumberjack history. The program “River Rat: Real Life and Romantic Legend” begins at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the Beyer Home and Carriage Museum, 915 Park Ave., Oconto.
