Jan. 28 Wittenberg-Birnamwood 62, Weyauwega-Fremont 27 The Chargers had little trouble dominating Weyauwega-Fremont in the 62-27 Central Wisconsin East Conference game. Rory Salvesen led Wittenberg-Birnamwood with 21 points, including four 3-pointers. Harper Rogowski and Melaina Granquist each scored 14. “Overall, I’m very pleased how we played tonight,” coach Nick Mechelke said.

Jan. 27 Wittenberg-Birnamwood 69, Northland Pines 58 The Chargers advanced to 11-2 with a solid non-conference 69-58 win over the Northland Pines Eagles. Jett Rogowski paced the Chargers with 32 points as solid contributions came from multiple players. “Defensively, we switched things up and tried to keep them off rhythm. They have a nice team and seemed to always keep things within reach,” said coach Garrett Rogowski.

Jan. 27 Lena 46, Niagara 28 Madi Thomson scored 18 points and Eva Brooks added 11 as Lena defeated Niagara 46-28.

School districts in Shawano and Oconto counties are well represented in the the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association 2025 Hall of Fame induction class. High school coaches who will be inducted include Daniel Shaw, of Pulaski, and Kristine Young, of Lena. Also inducted will be Peter Krull, who played for the Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School boys team. A Hall of Fame Banquet is scheduled for Sept.

Jan. 28 Oconto Falls 80, Luxemburg-Casco 66 JJ Pytleski set a blistering pace of 29 points to lead Oconto Falls to an 80-66 win over Luxemburg-Casco in a North Eastern Conference matchup. Emerich Skarban and Jameson Beaman each scored 16 points for the Panthers. Skarban and Beaman each grabbed eight rebounds, with Evan Yuma nabbing six. Pytleski had seven assists, and Yuma contributed four.

Jan. 30 Suring 69, Lena 55 Suring surged in the second half as the Eagles overtook Lena 69-55 in the Marinette & Oconto Conference matchup. Suring was led by Michael Bailey’s 21 points.

Jan. 30 Lena 46, Crivitz 32 Madilyn Thomson led Lena with 18 points, and Eva Brooks scored 12 in the Wildcats’ 46-32 win over Crivitz. Madilyn Thomson also led the team with nine rebounds; Brooks had seven, and Hannah Thomson had six. Kali Fischer dished out six assists, and Hannah Thomson had four. Hannah Thomson led with four steals.
