Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. will showcase the Gospel of Matthew in a new way. The musical “Godspell” will be presented March 13-16 and March 20-23 at the Nancy Byng Community Theater in Abrams. This timeless tale of friendship and love is demonstrated by an eclectic group that teams up with Jesus. In this production, Jesus’ message of kindness, tolerance and love shines through.

Want to meet the deputies and officers who serve the communities in Shawano County? Shawano Citizens Police Academy is the place to do it. This is an interactive class where you get to see how officers train and see how they deal with different aspects of their jobs.

Several members of the Bay Area Ice Bears girls hockey team earned Eastern Shores all-conference honors. We provided a lot of pressure in the first half, which allowed us to sub in everyone in and out,” coach Nick Mechelke said.

Feb. 17 Wittenberg-Birnamwood 58, Northland Pines 17 Wittenberg-Birnamwood dispatched Northland Pines with ease, holding the Eagles to single digits in each half and winning 58-17. “We got off to a good start tonight, which allowed us to play everyone good minutes in the first half,” coach Nick Mechelke said. Melaina Granquist scored 30 points, more than all the Northland Pines players combined. Of those 30 points were five 3-pointers.

Feb. 22 Division 2, Sectional B A pair of Oconto Falls wrestlers won their weight classes as sectionals and will join five other area wrestlers at the state meet this weekend. At the Division 2 Sectional B meet at Seymour, Isaiah Holtz captured first at 113 pounds.

Feb. 20 Lakeland 9, Shawano/Bonduel 2 Shawano/Bonduel could not find its rhythm in the Division 2 Sectional 2 WIAA regional finals playoff game against Lakeland. The Hawks lost 9-2 to end their season. The Thunderbirds were up 3-0 in the first period before Gavin Hundt scored for Shawano/Bonduel at 11:26.

Feb. 22 St. Thomas Aquinas Academy 74, Suring 54 Feb. 21 Bonduel 79, Amherst 39 Bonduel clinched the Central Wisconsin East Conference championship and improved to 13-0 in the conference with a 79-39 clubbing of Amherst. The Bears used a dominating 48-19 first half to cruise to the win. Quinn Wesenberg led Bonduel with 19 points. Sam Roberts added 13 and led the team with 17 rebounds.
