Couple charged in Aniwa drug case
Two people arrested after authorities executed a search warrant Friday are each facing a felony count of maintaining a drug trafficking place at their residence in the town of Aniwa Andy L. Bessert, 36, and Audrey L. Tautges, 35, could each face a maximum 3 1/2 years in prison and $10,000 fine if found guilty.

Heroin use growing in county
Shawano County is seeing an increase in heroin abuse, similar to other northern Wisconsin counties, detectives with the Sheriff’s Department said at a community meeting Monday. “This is no longer something that is just going on in Green Bay, Appleton, Milwaukee or Chicago,” Capt. Tom Tuma said to the audience at Shawano Community High School.
County United Way sets $75,000 goal

LCMS leader visits St. Paul's for 150th
The Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison, president of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, visited St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel last weekend with some strong words for its 150th anniversary celebration. Hawks finish seventh in Bay

Wildcats advance in volleyball regional
The Gresham Community High School volleyball team advanced in the WIAA Division 4 regional Tuesday night with a 3-2 win over White Lake in Gresham. The third-seeded Wildcats were down to sixth-seeded White Lake 2-1 after losing the opening game 25-13, winning the second 25-9 and losing the third 25-23. The Bonduel High School volleyball team advanced in the WIAA Division 3 regional Tuesday with a 3-0 sweep of Crandon in Bonduel. The Bears, the No. 4 seed, beat the fifth-seeded Cardinals by dominating the first game 25-16, winning a closer second game 25-18, and closing the door with a solid 25-11 win in the third game.
