Couple charged in Aniwa drug case

Two people arrested after authorities executed a search warrant Friday are each facing a felony count of maintaining a drug trafficking place at their residence in the town of Aniwa Andy L. Bessert, 36, and Audrey L. Tautges, 35, could each face a maximum 3 1/2 years in prison and $10,000 fine if found guilty. Bessert is also charged with felony bail jumping, which carries a maximum possible six-year sentence and $10,000 fine. According to the criminal complaint, authorities had learned from a confidential informant that drug activity had been going on at the residence. A search warrant was obtained based on probable cause that the use and delivery of controlled substances were allegedly occurring. Sheriff’s officials executed the search warrant with assistance of the Bonduel Police Department. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were seized, according to the criminal complaint. Bessert was being held on a $1,500 cash bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Shawano-Menominee County Circuit Court on Monday. Tautges is free on a $5,000 signature bond and is scheduled for an adjourned initial court appearance Nov. 4.
