Former astronaut helps propel WRLHS fundraising

About 200 people turned out Friday to hear former astronaut Jerry Ross talk about his NASA career and to support a fundraising effort by Wolf River Lutheran High School for a new school. Person who shot video was hired to train workers
A sheriff detective’s report of alleged animal abuse at a Shawano County farm indicates that the animal rights activist who secretly recorded the abuse had been hired at the farm to train and oversee the workers who allegedly engaged in it. The video was made in August on the Birnamwood farm of Alan Andrus by Los Angeles-based Mercy for Animals.

Colette T. Thompson
Colette T. Thompson, 69, of Shawano, died on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014. Born on April 17, 1945 in Shawano, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Colette (Spitzer) Heinz. On May 29, 1965, Colette was united in marriage to David A. Thompson, who preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2004. Colette was known by many from her numerous years of employment at Martin Jewelers and the former Thimke Jewelers.

Adeline M. “Addy” Zander, 87, of Port Edwards, formerly of Shawano, passed away Saturday evening, Nov. 8, 2014, at the Edgewater Haven Care Center in Port Edwards. A memorial service for Adeline Zander will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. at Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano. Pastor Jamie Brei will officiate.

Rose recall goes to voters Tuesday
For the first time in Clintonville, a recall election will be held Tuesday for an alderman. Alderman Greg Rose was elected to his District 4 seat in April 2013, defeating Lois Bressette 84-77. The two will square off again Tuesday after a recall petition led by resident William VanDaalwyk gathered enough signatures to force the recall vote. The polling place at City Hall will be open from 7 a.m.
