Attorneys for the city of Shawano are drafting an offer to the heirs of the original Shawano Medical Center property who have yet to sign off on waiving a deed restriction that would open the property up for development. The hospital is relocating later this year adjacent to ThedaCare Physicians on County Road B. The city and ThedaCare entered into an agreement to market the former hospital property for development.

Seattle’s Richard Sherman might have more to do this time against the Green Bay Packers. The Packers didn’t throw in the Pro Bowl cornerback’s direction when the teams met in the season opener in September, a 36-16 win for the Seahawks. The game plan for the rematch on Sunday in the NFC title game is still in flux.

January is National Radon Action Month, and the Oconto County Health Department urges individuals to test their homes for radon. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, radon is the No. 1 cause of lung cancer among nonsmokers. Overall, it is the second-leading cause of lung cancer. Radon is a gas that has no taste, smell or color. It can be found all over the U.S.

Friends of St. Clare Memorial Hospital last week announced it is one step closer to its mission of opening a chapel inside HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital, thanks to a $10,000 donation from the St. Clare Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. The chapel will be located on the first floor of HSHS St.

Parents, caregivers and their 10- to 14-year-old youth are invited to take part in an interactive family program. Parents will learn to build on their strengths in showing love and setting limits, and youth will develop skills in handling peer pressure and building a positive future, all while families grow together. The seven-week class will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. Mondays, Feb.

A John Denver musical tribute is coming to the Falls Area Performing Arts Center. Ted Vigil will honor music icon John Denver with a performance at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, at the PAC, located inside Oconto Falls High School, 210 N. Farm Road, Oconto Falls. Long-time Denver guitar accompanist Steve Weisberg said Vigil closely resembles Denver, both physically and musically.

Mary Dolores (Westenberger) Olsen, 69, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015. She was born July 6, 1945, in Shawano to the late James and Lorraine (Penfield) Westenberger. Mary graduated from Gillett High School in 1963. She married John Olsen on Oct. 25, 1963, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Gillett. Mary worked on the family dairy farm and served as a Gillett EMT for several years.

Sallie Anne Davis, 72, of Wrightstown, formerly of Mountain, passed away on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at her home. She was born in Abrams on Nov. 17, 1942, to the late Edward and Marjorie (Wescott) Longsine. Sallie graduated from Wabeno High School with the Class of 1961. She married Joel Davis in 1963, and the couple lived in Mountain for many years, where Sallie raised their three children. She moved to Wrightstown in 1995.

Patricia A. Buhrandt, 66, Ashwaubenon, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2015. She was born on June 2, 1948, to Lester and Hilda (Peterson) Bahrke. Patti was a 1966 graduate of Green Bay East High School. On Oct. 4, 1969, she married Aaron Buhrandt at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death in 1995. Patti was employed at Bellin Hospital for 36 years as a nursing assistant mainly with the pediatrics and surgery floor.
