Friends of St. Clare Memorial Hospital will host the 10th annual Spring Fling on Friday, April 10, at Red Maple Country Club, 501 Golf Course Road, Suring. The them is “A Night at the Derby,” and guests are encouraged to wear their finest derby attire to the event, which will feature a variety of food, drink and entertainment. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

The Oconto County Safe Kids chapter invites parents to drop off old car seats, free of charge, at three locations. Collections will take place until April 1 at the Mountain Ambulance Garage, from 9 a.m. to noon April 11 at the St. John’s Health Fair, 101 W. Main St., Gillett; and from 10 a.m.

Helen Louise (Smoot) Peterson, 88, began her heavenly journey at midnight on March 13, 2015. She was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan, to Walter and Rose Smoot on April 13, 1926. She spent her younger years at various places throughout Wisconsin, and as you drove around the area you could hear her say, “I went to school there,” or “We lived there!” One of her favorite places she lived was in Sturgeon Bay.

Gloria Mae Peters, 88, of Oconto Falls, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Sharpe Care LTD, Oconto Falls. Gloria was born March 27, 1926, in Green Bay to the late Hubert and Irene (Hellman) Waldow. She married William Irvin Peters on Jan. 29, 1944. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1980. Marliss-ann Lundquist, 76, of Mountain, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2015. Marliss was born to the late Curtis and Hilder (Grundsom) Hosking on Feb. 3, 1939. Marliss Hosking married Ned Lundquist on April 15, 1978, in West Allis.

Michael Sylvester Linzmeyer, 52, Suring, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015, surrounded by his family, following a long illness. Mike was born in Oconto Falls on Aug. 28, 1962, to Ronald and Mary Jean Linzmeyer. Mike married Lori Wolcott on June 20, 1998, in a beautiful outdoor western ceremony. Mike enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, best friend Mike Symanski and his three furry friends, Sabrina, Scooby and Casper.

Larry Curran, 74, Oconto Falls, died Tuesday afternoon, March 10, 2015, at home with his family present. He was born July 9, 1940, in Green Bay to Hubert and Dorothy (Van Haren) Curran. As a baby, Larry moved with his family to Oconto Falls, where he attended St. Anthony Catholic Grade School and graduated high school with the Class of 1958. A few months after graduation, Larry enlisted into the U.S.

N.E.W. Credit Union selected Scott Wycherley, of Townsend, as the recipient of its 2015 Harold P. Heckendorf Community Service Award. Wycherley accepted the award from N.E.W.
