Dr. John D. Hart

John David Hart, M.D., passed away Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015, after a six-year struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. John was born in Sac City, Iowa, to the late William and Erin (Cooney) Hart. He was raised in Hopkinton, Iowa. In 1962, he graduated from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. On Aug. 8, 1964, John was united in marriage to Donna Stoughton in Farley, Iowa. In 1967, John graduated from the University of Iowa School of Medicine.
Donna Mae Miesbauer
Donna Mae Miesbauer, 87, of Shawano, passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 1, 2015, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, with her loving family at her side. A memorial Mass for Donna is tentatively scheduled for Friday, Aug. 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A full obituary with complete visitation and service times will be published Saturday in The Shawano Leader.

Mary Ann Schmidt
Mary Ann Schmidt, 61, of Shawano, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2015. She was born on Sept. 23, 1953, in the town of Westcott to the late Fritz and Anna Clare (Malueg) Keuschel. Mary lived most of her life in Shawano, where she married Earl R. Schmidt on Sept. 19, 1981. Mary worked for the Bonduel Pickling factory from 1987 to 1996. She attended Peace United Church of Christ.

Christine “Chris” A. Conlon, 48, of the town of Maine, Outagamie County, passed away with her hand in Ken’s hand surrounded by family Friday evening, July 31, 2015, at Appleton Medical Center. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville, is assisting the family.

VanStraten wins 11th straight during Bud Lynn Memorial
Saturday was the track’s 11th annual Bud Lynn memorial race. The family of the longtime racer was on hand again this year to hand out trophies to the feature winners. One of the trophies went to Travis VanStraten, who won his 11th straight IMCA Stock Car feature and 12th of the season. Tracy Wassenberg secured his fourth IMCA Sport Mod win. Jerry Wilinski picked up his third IMCA Modified victory.
Packers are preseason No. 1 in AP’s power rankings
With a healthy Aaron Rodgers ready to resume his pinpoint passing, the Green Bay Packers will start the season as the No. 1 team in the AP power rankings. In balloting by the 12 media members who regularly cover the NFL, the Packers finished ahead of the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. Green Bay received six first-place votes and 375 points, with the NFC champion Seahawks earning four first-place votes and 367 points.
Ron Wolf, architect of Packers revival, headed to hall
When the Green Bay Packers were searching for someone to help rekindle the glory of the Lombardi years, they turned to Ron Wolf. Wolf turned the Packers back into a powerhouse and now he’s been rewarded with election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He will be enshrined Saturday in Canton, Ohio. “I’m about 5 feet off the ground now when I walk,” Wolf said.
