Boater may be missing on Lily Lake

Emergency crews were searching a small Shawano County lake Wednesday for an elderly boater whose boat was found adrift. The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department said the 79-year-old Shawano man is known to use the boat often on Lily Lake, located north of Shawano in the town of Washington. Jeanne L. Braun
Jeanne L. Braun, 68, Oconto Falls, died suddenly of natural causes Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 4, 2015, while working with her husband in their yard. The older of two daughters born to Merton and Myrtle (Runge) Wagner was born July 26, 1947, in Milwaukee. As a child, Jeanne moved with her family to Gillett, where she grew up and attended public schools, graduating from high school with the Class of 1965.

Lynn Leroux
Lynn Leroux, 66, Oconto Falls, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 4, 2015, at the Jack & Engrid Meng Hospice Residence, De Pere. She was born May 2, 1949, in New York to Frank and Marion (Raymond) Yacopino Jr. Lynn grew up in New York, where she graduated high school and attended college. On Oct. 11, 1969, she married Tom Leroux Sr. in New York.

Stanislaus E. Gerbyshak
Stanislaus E. Gerbyshak, 40, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 29, 2015, in St. Germain. He was born on May 20, 1975. Stan worked at Fort Howard Paper Co. in Green Bay, Cruisers Boat Co. in Oconto and at KSU in Marinette. He moved to St. Germain and worked as a carpenter and at Elmer’s Fun Park on the car track. World’s smallest Gospel singer to perform in Suring
Guinness world record-holder Lowell Mason will appear at Hickory Church of Christ in Suring on Sunday, Aug. 30. Mason has been called the world’s smallest Gospel singer because of his height of 46 inches. His booming voice, however, has no comparison to his size. During his program, Mason will sing a variety of “old-time” songs.

Historical society to sponsor cemetery walk
The Oconto County Historical Society will present its sixth annual cemetery walk, “If Tombstones Could Talk,” on Sept. 23 and 24. The walks will begin at 6 p.m. at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery, 3024 N. River Road, Oconto. Tour-goers will be led in groups through the cemetery by lantern-carrying guides. Six historic personages will be portrayed, and their life stories will come alive. Tickets for the cemetery walk will be on sale at the G.E.

4-H club raises funds for lifesaving equipment
Greetings, residents of Morgan and the surrounding communities! Welcome once again to the column written with the interests of town of Morgan residents in mind. The Morgan Badgers 4-H Club has taken on a community service project that is sure to have a positive impact on our community. The club’s goal was to raise $1,450 to purchase an automated external defibrillator to be placed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan.

Abrams Theatre opens ‘The Game’s Afoot’ on Aug. 14
Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. will present eight performances of the comedy/mystery “The Game’s Afoot or Holmes for the Holidays,” by Ken Ludwig, at The Byng Community Theater in Abrams. The setting is December 1936, and Broadway star William Gillette, admired for his leading role in the play “Sherlock Holmes,” has invited his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry.
