Panthers’ golf season ends at sectionals

The Oconto Falls High School girls golf season came to an end Monday at the WIAA Division 2 sectional at Fox Valley Golf Course in Kaukauna. The team placed eighth with a 445 and did not qualify for the state meet. Brittany Russell and Bridgett Gorman each shot 110s to lead Oconto Falls.
Foxes pass their way past Panthers
Connor Scray threw two touchdown passes, but completed only one other pass as the Oconto Falls High School football team fell to Fox Valley Lutheran 50-14 Friday night in North Eastern Conference play. Sam Shroyer caught the Panthers’ first touchdown of the night as Oconto Falls briefly held a 7-6 advantage. A 26-0 run during the second quarter pushed the Foxes ahead by 25 before Oconto Falls struck again.
Panthers girls second at Reedsville
The Oconto Falls High School cross-country teams competed at the 11-team Reedsville Cross-Country Invitational on Thursday, with the Panther girls finishing in second place and the boys finishing in fourth. Bailey Wolf led the Panthers with a first-place finish in the 5,000-meter race in 20 minutes, 15 seconds. Ashley Keuken finished in eighth place with a personal best time of 21:34.

FOOTBALL Crivitz offense too strong for Tigers Alex Zeitler found Leeland Kahler for a 15-yard score to open the game, but that was all Gillett would be able to put on the board in a 30-6 homecoming loss Friday to Crivitz. Tyler Slaby led the rushing attack for Crivitz (3-4, 2-3 Marinette & Oconto Conference), posting 151 yards and a touchdown. Zeitler finished the game 12-for-18 passing and 145 yards.

Red Cross dance competition includes Bowler native
Bowler native Dan Terrio will be among the nine competitors in the eighth annual “Dancing With Our Stars” event Feb. 20 in Green Bay. The event is a fundraiser for the American Red Cross. Modeled after the ABC-TV show “Dancing With The Stars,” the event pairs local volunteers with professional dancers. Each couple performs two ballroom dances.

Nature center events include sunset wagon ride, geocaching
Navarino Nature Center will hold its fall open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 10. The event includes wagon rides through the Navarino Wildlife Area, a scavenger hunt, prairie maze, children’s crafts, face painting and an apple cider press. Guests also will be able to make scarecrows, build bird feeders, dip candles and make rope.
