The wheels of justice turn slow, but Shawano County officials are hoping to see an increase in that speed with a few proactive steps. Ethan Schmidt, Shawano County clerk of courts, told members of the Shawano County Public Safety Committee on Feb. 7 that having a third prosecutor in the district attorney’s office is helping to make a dent in the caseload.

Dawn Giamarino, of Seymour, passed away Feb. 5, 2024, at home with loving family by her side. She was born Oct. 19, 1959, to the late James and Erma (Braunsdorf) Schroeder. Dawn grew up on a small farm in Gillett. Here she developed her love of God, family and horses.

Leah G. Giese, 86, of Gillett, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024. Leah was born on May 17, 1937, to the late Clarence and Lucille (Peterson) Peterman. She attended St. John Lutheran School and graduated from Suring High School in 1955. On Aug. 27, 1955, Leah married Herbert Giese at St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes.
