1 injured, 1 vehicle lost in crash
A two-vehicle crash on May 30 on state Highway 29 resulted in only one injury, but it caused one vehicle to be engulfed in flames. About 10 p.m., the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department received a call of a vehicle crash on Highway 29 near County Road K in the Town of Waukechon.

Emmie Barke
Emmie Jean Barke, 97, of Gillett, died peacefully at home on May 30, 2025. She was born Jan. 27, 1928, to Alfred and Clara (Koll) Barke. She married Arnold Barke on April 22, 1955, in Thomasville, Georgia. Emmie worked in Green Bay for Dr. Gallagher as a receptionist for 30 years, and she also helped manage her husband’s cedar post and lumbar business.
Second driver dies after May 16 crash
A second driver died after a crash in the Town of Little River the morning of May 16. On May 30, the Oconto County Sheriff’s Department released the traffic report from the crash, a collision between a passenger car and a pickup truck at the intersection of U.S.
