The Shawano County clerk is retiring. Shawano County Board Chairman Tom Kautza said he was informed by Sheriff George Lenzner of Kara Skarlupka’s resignation. According to state law, a county clerk’s resignation is done through a letter to the sheriff, who then informs the county board chairman. “It’s quite simple; she’s retiring,” Kautza sad when asked about the resignation.

The June 26 trial for Tracy Bahr on charges dating all the way back to 2020 has been canceled, and it looks like the 41-year-old Cecil man could plead out instead. Attorneys in the case met with Shawano-Menominee County Circuit Court Judge William Kussel Jr. for a final pre-trial hearing June 10, and defense attorney Christopher Froehlich said his client, who remains in jail, is withdrawing the motion for a prompt disposition of the case.

James Radford is still waiting on an attorney taking on his case, a June 9 status conference revealed. Radford, 39, is being charged with first-degree reckless homicide in the death of his wife, Sabrina Radford. Deputies responded April 11, 2016, to a residence on County Road J in the Town of Fairbanks for a report of a woman who had sustained a gunshot wound.
