The Shawano FFA Chapter was named the state-winning Nursery/Landscape Career Development Event (CDE) team.
Team members include Levi Wendorff, Camden Kern, Aiden Kern and Tucker Reinke.
The 2025-26 smallmouth bass fishing season opened in the northern bass management zone June 21 and runs through March 1, 2026.
While anglers in the southern zone have been able to harvest bass since May 3, this harvest season gives anglers a chance to catch and keep smallmouth bass in waters north of state Highway 77 to the east of state Highway 27 and north of state Highway 64.

Winning pitcher Hunter Vollmer had three hits, including a triple and a double, as the A’s headed to Marion and returned home with a nine-run win over the Meisters.
Brock Smejkal and Austin Hoffman added three hits for Clintonville.
Bobby Brunker led the Meisters with three hits, while Blake Weatherwax and Hayden Miller added two each.
Joe Weyenberg took the loss for Marion.
Gresham 9, Shawano
It looks like the heat and humidity took its toll on scheduled Dairyland League baseball games June 20 and June 22, as results from only one of seven scheduled games were reported.
A full slate of games are slated for June 27-29.

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood School Board unanimously approved upping daily pay for substitute teachers June 23.
The current pay scale for substitute teachers is $120 per day, with the pay jumping to $130 per day if a sub has worked more than 50 non-consecutive days in the district.
Two women were seriously injured in a one-vehicle rollover crash the afternoon of June 22 in the Town of Wittenberg.
Names of the women involved in the crash are not being released at this time, but the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department reported the driver was a 45-year-old woman from the Mattoon area, and the passenger was a 20-year-old woman from the Oshkosh area.
