The return to work, school, and regular routines after the holidays can bring an uptick in cold and flu symptoms. As people reach for over-the-counter medications, Aspirus Pharmacy resident Kenneth Yuk is reminding the community to use them safely by reviewing labels carefully.

Boy, 15, dies in snowmobile crash

A 15-year-old boy from Lena died as the result of a snowmobile accident Jan. 13, according to a news release from the Oconto County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Todd Skarban said law enforcement was notified of the single-vehicle crash at 7:32 p.m.

Westrich becomes all-time leading scorer for Bonduel boys

Bonduel improved to 10-0 on the season with its 79-49 rout over Wausau East.

Senior Ryan Westrich scored 22 points and became the all-time scoring leader for Bonduel’s boys basketball program. He now has 1,339 points.

Quinn Wesenberg led the Bears against Wausau East with 27 points. Carter Moesch contributed 11 points in the win.

Marion/Tigerton improved to 7-4 overall with a with a 53-24 win over Rosholt in a nonconference game in Rosholt.

Menominee Nation 58, Manawa 32

The Eagles rolled over the Wolves 58-32 and improved to 3-3 in the CWC-East and 10-4 overall.

Three area boys hockey teams come up short

Sheboygan 6, Bay Area 3

Bay Area skaters had a flurry of 46 shots on goal against Sheboygan but ended up on the short end of a 6-3 final score.

Already down 4-0 late in the second period, the Storm finally connected on a goal from Cash Ebeling with Brody Hronek assisting.

The Red Raiders scored again in the second period and then in the third to take a 6-1 lead.

Race schedule announced for 2026

Opening night for the 2026 racing season at the Shawano Speedway is tentatively set for April 11, race officials announced.

Dirt King late models will be featured April 18 and Aug. 29.

Other special events include spectators eliminators June 27, salute to veterans July 4, Hall of Fame on July 11, Racing 4 a Reason on July 25, corn roast Aug. 15 and championship night Sept. 5.

Nancy K. Bursa

Nancy Kathryn Bursa, 81, of Coleman, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Nancy was born June 24, 1944, in Park Falls,to Robert and Antoinette (Price) Toney, and was raised in Milwaukee.
