Judy Mae Ama, 84, of Oconto Falls, passed away Feb. 25, 2026.

She was born May 29, 1941, to Frank and Alice (Severson) Bublitz. Judy graduated from Gillett High School with the class of 1959. On May 29, 1970, she married Dario Ama at Bethel Lutheran Church in Green Valley.

Despite a few warm snaps (one that canceled the fishing portion of Battle on Bago ice fishing tournament that I wrote about last time), this crushing winter is really wearing most of us thin.

As I get older, I find my hands and feet get cold much quicker. It’s probably related to my type 2 diabetes or maybe because I don’t walk as much as I should. But it’s a great time to catch up on my reading.

Bonduel 83, Weyauwega-Fremont 53

Bonduel’s boys basketball team finished the regular season with a perfect 14-0 conference mark and 21-3 overall with an 83-53 win over Weyauwega-Fremont.

The Bears have won 46 consecutive conference games over the past four years.

Gillett School District Superintendent Nathan Hanson walked back a claim that the district would have to start looking at closing the schools if an April referendum is rejected by voters, saying he “overstated” it.

Community Action for Healthy Living recently shared data showing that 99% of Wisconsin retailers who asked for ID avoided making an underage sale, and they also found that roughly two-thirds of retailers who did not check ID to verify age went on to inadvertently make a sale to an underage buyer.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is reminding farmers and manure applicators to check the Runoff Risk Advisory Forecast before spreading manure on fields.

This tool helps determine the potential for manure runoff from a field depending on weather conditions and soil temperature. Users can access this tool at https://runoffriskadvisory.wi.gov.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is accepting multiple nominations for the Farm to School Advisory Council until May 15.

The case against Oneida man Collyn Jorgenson has been put on hold until the end of April at the request of defense attorney Nila Robinson to give her client time to receive mental health treatment.
