Students celebrate Week of the Young Child

The 4-year-old kindergarten students at Oconto Falls Elementary School celebrated the Week of the Young Child, observed nationwide April 6-12. In keeping with the tradition established in 1971 by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the 4K students and their families took time to reflect on the growth and development made from birth to age 5. The children created alphabet books reflecting significant people, places and things in their personal lives that represented each of the 26 letters. These books are on display in the elementary school vestibule. The children spent time with family and friends looking at photo albums and scrapbooks featuring pictures of various ages and stages in their development. The motto of the NAEYC is “Early years are learning years! Make them count.” Early education programs across the U.S. celebrated early childhood by focusing on quality time spent exploring, communicating, playing and learning.
