Janet Ann Haffeman

Janet Ann Haffeman, 75, Lena, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, after a long illness, at Bay Area Medical Center, Marinette. She was born to the late Leo and Anna (Pivonka) Valenta on April 25, 1939. Janet married Melvin Haffeman on Nov. 30, 1957. She worked as a waitress at The Round Roof of Kelly Lake, at The Wooden Shoe of Lena for many years and retired from The Store in Lena due to health issues. Janet’s ultimate love was her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Melvin; eight children, Linda (Terry) Hinds, Lena, Debbie (Paul) Stello, Peshtigo, Annette (Bryan) Behringer, Oconto Falls, Craig Haffeman, Colorado, Curt Haffeman, Abrams, Kay Johnson, Colorado, Cheryl (Kevin) Jagiello, Lena, and Donna (special friend Pete) Haffeman, Green Bay; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; eight siblings, John (Mary) Valenta, Lena, JoAnn Valenta, Two Rivers, Julie Linzmeyer, Milwaukee, Allen (Sharon) Valenta, Pound, Sharon (Robert) Schroth, Coleman, Donald (Cathy) Valenta, Coleman, Connie (Ricky) Broderick, Coleman, and Cindy (Dan) Nickels, Coleman. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; one grandchild, Jeremy Jagiello; one daughter-in-law, Shelby Haffeman; two brothers, infant Leo Jr. and Ronald Valenta; and one brother-in-law, John Linzmeyer. Relatives and friends called at Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home, 438 W. Main St., Lena, on Friday, May 30, from 4-8 p.m. A wake service was held at 7 p.m. Visitation continued Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, Lena, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Polycarp and Deacon Peter Gard officiating. Janet was placed to rest at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery, Klondike. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jamie Haffeman for her help, dedication and love to her grandmother.
