3 local softball teams lose in first round of playoffs

May 22 Marinette 5, Oconto Falls 2 Oconto Falls dropped a 5-2 WIAA regional playoff game to Marinette to end their 2025 season. The Panthers, 8-13 overall, finished at 7-10 in the North Eastern Conference. Gillett/Suring 16, Menominee Nation 1 In Division 3 playoff action, No. 8 Gillett/Suring defeated No. 9 Menominee Nation 16-1. The Eagles end the season at 0-14 in the CWC East and 2-19 overall. Gillett/Suring advanced to take on No. 1 Peshtigo on May 27. Crandon 12, Bowler/Gresham 1 Bowler/Gresham’s season ended with a 12-1 loss to Crandon in the first round of WIAA regional action. Bowler/Gresham ended its season 0-6 in the CWC North and 0-11 overall. Wittenberg-Birnamwood 4, Shawano 2 The Chargers and Hawks closed out their regular seasons with Wittenberg-Birnamwood earning a 4-2 nonconference win. Shawano finished the season with a 7-5 mark for third place in the Bay Conference. The team was 12-11 overall. Wittenberg-Birnamwood, 17-9 overall, finished in third place in the CWC East at 10-4.
