The sale of methamphetamine to a confidential informant at a Marinette County truck stop led to the discovery of meth-cooking supplies at a Little River residence and the arrest of two people.
Marsha L. Redmon, 39, and Charley E. Estep, 29, were arrested July 7.
Redmon was taken into custody at the home where she lived with Estep, at 8483 Willow Creek Road, Oconto. She faces six meth-related charges and is being held in the Oconto County Jail on $30,000 cash bond. The most serious charge carries a maximum penalty of 12 years, six months imprisonment and $25,000 fine. Her preliminary hearing is Friday.
Estep was taken into custody in Marinette County after allegedly selling .9 grams of meth to an informant for $150. He was charged in Marinette County Circuit Court on July 9 with delivery of methamphetamine as a repeater, which carries a maximum penalty of 12 years, six months imprisonment and fines of $25,000. Bond was set at $25,000. He is due back in court for an adjourned initial appearance July 21.
In Oconto County Circuit Court on Thursday, six drug-related charges were filed against Estep. He has yet to appear in court for the charges.
Redmon told authorities she purchased pseudoephedrine products for Estep to make meth on at least 100 occasions, according to a criminal complaint. She said Estep produced meth in an upstairs bedroom using the “shake” method in soda bottles approximately four times a week, including twice on July 7, the day both were arrested.
Investigators found meth cooking supplies in their bedroom closet at the Little River residence, along with meth smoking devices and other drug-related items.
The confidential informant stated he purchased meth at least 50 times from Estep, the complaint reads.
In May 2006, Estep was convicted of felony forgery in Missouri and was sentenced to four years in prison.
Authorities from Oconto County, Marinette County, the city of Marinette and the Wisconsin Department of Justice-Division of Criminal Investigation were involved in the case.
The July 7 arrests were the third set of meth-manufacturing arrests in Oconto County since the end of May. Six other individuals are in custody in the Oconto County Jail for allegedly manufacturing meth in Oconto Falls and Stiles.
Keith Johnson, an investigator with the Oconto County Sheriff’s Department, said there is an ongoing investigation to determine if the incidents are linked or if other meth manufacturing is occurring in the county.
