Joyriders donate to Brazeau Rescue

Roy Lorenz, president of the Bagley & Brazeau Joyriders Snowmobile Club, recently presented a check for $1,800 to Sue Kanack, president of the Brazeau Rescue Squad. The money was raised at the club’s annual landowner appreciation dinner and fundraiser, organized by Kathy Lorenz and Linda Houtger, club secretary, for the Brazeau Ambulance. For years the Bagley & Brazeau Joyriders Snowmobile Club has held a dinner and snowmobile ride. In 2004, the club decided to expand the event and make it a landowner appreciation dinner, thanking landowners for allowing members to cross their land. The club also decided to give back to the community by making the event a fundraiser for the Brazeau Ambulance Service. Since 2004, the club has raised $10,800 for the Brazeau Ambulance Service. Special equipment has been purchased to rescue injured snowmobilers on the trails, some which are located in remote areas. Members and 44 local businesses donated door prizes for the fundraising event. Of the 128 people who attended, 57 were landowners. Without the support of landowners and local businesses, the trail system could not exist.
