Close to 1,300 eighth-grade students from Shawano, Waupaca, Oconto and Outagamie counties had a unique opportunity to delve into the world of work at the annual Eighth Grade Career Exploration career fair April 29 at Clintonville High School.
The event brought together 51 businesses and organizations from various sectors, offering students a firsthand look at potential career paths.
Students engaged with professionals from fields ranging from health care and manufacturing to technology and the skilled trades. Interactive displays and conversations allowed the young learners to ask questions, learn about required skills and education, and participate in hands-on activities.
“This career fair is invaluable in sparking curiosity and helping our students begin to think about their futures,” said Suzanne Wittman, Shawano Country Chamber of Commerce executive director. “The participation of so many local businesses truly showcases the diverse opportunities available right here in our local communities.”
The Shawano Country chamber, Clintonville Area Chamber of Commerce, Fox Valley Technical College and Clintonville School District have provided this opportunity to students for more than 20 years.
