“A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” has been selected as the summer musical to be presented from July 31-Aug. 3 in the Meunier-Pelow Auditorium at Gillett Secondary School.
The show, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Burt Shrevlove and Larry Gelbert (“M*A*S*H), opened on Broadway in 1962 and won several Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Book.
Auditions will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, May 19, in the band room of Gillett High School and from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, in the band room of Oconto Falls High School. Performers are needed from high school age and older. There are no parts for children in this production. Producers are also looking for people to play in the pit band.
Performers are asked to prepare a short song to sing and will also be asked to read from the script.
Wayne Strei is producing the play, and Ben Burish is directing. Anna Burish is the music director, and Jake Kulba will be the technical director. Stephanie Spang is choreographing the performances.
Rehearsals will begin the week of June 8.
