Three young women will compete Saturday for the Shawano County Fairest of the Fair crown.
The winner will preside over various activities at the Shawano County Fair in August, and represent the county at other events and the Wisconsin State Fair. Megan Welk, of Gresham, is the reigning Fairest of the Fair.
The annual banquet will begin at 11 a.m. at Max’s Restaurant, W7389 River Bend Road, Shawano.
Contestants will answer questions presented by the judges at the banquet. They also will have individual interviews, which count for 70 percent of their score, with judges prior to the banquet.

Following are introductions written by the Fairest of the Fair candidates:
Ashley Bergsbaken: I am the daughter of Dennis and Donna Bergsbaken from Bonduel. I am a senior this year and will be attending the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in the fall to pursue a dual degree in communications and public relations. I have been showing at the fair for 11 years now. I started out as a Cloverbud in 4-H all those years ago. Ever since I was a little girl, I have dreamt about becoming Fairest of the Fair. I’ve always wanted to be the person to congratulate the showmen and promote the outstanding county fair we are fortunate to have right here in Shawano.
Trisha Conto: I am 17. I have been homeschooled and will graduate in June. Homeschooling has allowed me to do many things. I have participated in eight theater productions of WRHS Performing Arts, attended Teen Pact and have been able to do a lot of community service at area rest homes. I am currently working as a library page at the Clintonville Public Library, and for nine years have been enjoying teaching children’s music at my church, just to see the smiles on their faces. I have been a member of County Line 4-H for 12 years, holding the office of secretary, then president the last three years. I have been a member of O.Y.G. and have taught many classes on the county level. In the near future, I plan to attend Nicolet Bible Institute. From there, I would like become a librarian, or work in a camp for foster children, which I understand fully, as I was a foster child till the age of 6, when I was adopted by my amazingly, wonderful, parents.
Taylor Przybylski: I am from Pulaski, and am a proud graduate of Pulaski High School, Class of 2013. I am currently a full-time student at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay pursuing a degree in biology with an animal emphasis. I hope to graduate in three years and apply to and attend the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in Madison starting in the fall of 2016. I am honored to have the opportunity to compete for the title of Shawano County Fairest of the Fair! The fair has been a part of my life ever since I can remember, and I would love to be the representative of the fair as well as to be able to attend and support various events at the fair this year. Since I have been so involved, I feel it is my duty to apply for this position and to be a positive role model for the community. The Shawano County Fair is a great end to the summer as it allows everyone in the county to get together and celebrate all of their successes from throughout the year.
