Four new supervisors will join the 31-member County Board at its reorganizational meeting Tuesday.
The April 1 election resulted in the defeat of one incumbent. Vernon Zoeller lost his seat to Joyce Stoegbauer 67-43 in District 8, which covers parts of Abrams and Pensaukee. Zoeller had served 14 of the last 16 years.
Zoeller said a million dollars’ worth of improvements were completed at county parks and boat landings through the use of grant money during his tenure on the Forest, Park and Recreation Committee, which also oversaw a successful upgrade to the Townsend dam and lucrative timber sales.
“I’m certainly proud of what we did. If I didn’t do enough, I don’t know how I could’ve done more,” he said.
Stoegbauer said she was pleased and surprised to be elected.
“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” she said.
She said she will do her best to respond to “whatever comes up.”
“I’ll try to understand and try to do my best and try to do whatever the people want. I know I have a lot to learn,” she said.
Two other incumbents, Terry Brazeau and Darrel Pagel, will return to office. Brazeau held his position against challenger David Rakowski, 117-91, in District 27, which covers Brazeau and part of Spruce. It will be Brazeau’s fourth two-year term.
Pagel defeated Thomas Kussow, 79-46, in District 2 in Little Suamico. Pagel was appointed to the County Board in September 2009.
New to the County Board will be Judith Buhrandt, of Mountain, in District 29. She replaces her husband, Donald, who completed his second two-year term. The District 29 supervisor represents Mountain and part of Riverview.
Chris Augustine, Sobieski, was elected for District 4, to the seat held by Wayne Leiterman since 2012.
Gary Frank was elected for District 25; Louis Winkler represented the district for 34 years.
