Shawano boys win home invite for first time

Shawano’s boys outscored their opponents 196-174 to win their first ever home invitational.

The girls team won the event twice in the past three years, but this marked the first win for the boys in the since the tournament started more than 30 years ago.

Shawano opened the Shawano Hoops Holiday Classic at the Kress Center at UW-Green Bay with a 61-45 win over Green Bay Southwest.

Menominee Nation defeated Crandon 94-69 on the opening day of the Edgar Holiday Tournament.

Storm wins, loses at Neenah tournament

The Bay Area Storm won 2-1 over Middleton on the second day of holiday tournament in Neenah.

Conner Viau scored with assists from Braden Becks and Ryan Leahy, while Aiden Buchan had an unassisted goal.

Goalie Landon Mason had 20 saves.

Ice Bears notch two more wins

Bay Area 3, Eau Claire Area 2

For the first time this season, the Bay Area Ice Bears found themselves trailing an opponent when they faced the Eau Claire Area Stars in Hayward.

Down 1-0 in the first period and then 2-1 in the third period, Bay Area scored twice in rapid succession to tie and then take the lead, beating Eau Claire Area 3-2.

2025 in Review: Nordin reaches pinnacle of high school career

Shawano Community High School girls basketball star Leah Nordin started 2025 out on a winning note, as the Hawks beat Green Bay East 61-22.

The 6-2 junior sank a short jumper from the left side of the lane with 9:16 left in the first half at Green Bay East to become Shawano’s all-time leading basketball scorer, boys or girls.

Panthers hang on for boys basketball win

The Blue Devils trailed by double digits and steadily closed the gap as the game wound down, but the Panthers held on for a slim 64-63 win.
