Young-Gabriel, Krull headed to basketball hall of fame

A former coach and player who helped put a pair of area basketball programs on the map are being honored for their achievements on the court.

Former Lena High School girls basketball coach Kristine Young-Gabriel and former Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School player Pete Krull are among the 2025 inductees into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Port Edwards volleyball team defeats Tigerton

Tigerton traveled to cross-conference foe Port Edwards on Sept. 22 and lost an exciting match 3-2 to the host team. Set scores were 25-16, 25-27, 25-22, 16-25 and 10-15.

Presley Stewart-Rolfs notched 15 kills, with Lillian Welch and Mya Smith getting four each and Renata Nordwig with three.

Danika Tiller contributed 13 assists, and Aaliyah Lederhaus added six.

Mielke makes himself at home in end zone

It was an offensive game plan that worked well for the Marion/Tigerton football team.

The plan? Hand the ball to Braylon Mielke and let the junior work his magic.

That “magic” added up to 337 rushing yards and five touchdowns Sept. 19 in a 48-38 win over Newman Catholic in Marion.

Football: Moesch’s big night helps Bonduel top Marinette

Carter Moesch came up big for the Bonduel football team, as he scored four of his team’s five touchdowns Sept. 19 in a 35-6 Packerland Conference home win over Marinette.

In other games involving area teams, West De Pere handed Pulaski a 52-9 loss and Winneconne blanked Shawano 42-0.

Oconto Falls wins Pulaski Volleyball Invitational

The Oconto Falls volleyball team went a perfect 5-0 to capture the championship at the Pulaski Invitational on Sept. 20. The Panthers continued their strong season with consistent play on both sides of the ball.

Pulaski soccer team shut out 4-0

The Pulaski Red Raiders soccer team fell at home to the Oshkosh North Spartans 4-0 on Sept. 18.

Oshkosh North grabbed an early goal in the sixth minute from Gerome Mtabi. The Spartans tacked on three more goals in the second half to pull away for the win. Espoire Amisi made one save on goal for Oshkosh North (3-3-2). Jonah Drevs made three saves on goal for Pulaski (4-3-2).
