Thundercatz lower the boom in Wild Rose

Besides wrapping up a Central Wisconsin Conference-8 championship, the Marion/Tigerton football team is also back in the WIAA 8-player playoffs for the first time since 2019.

The Thundercatz headed to Wild Rose on Oct. 10 with a chance to win the conference title outright and did that with a 51-16 win over the Wildcats.

Panthers bounce back to win home volleyball invite

The Oconto Falls Panthers had a busy and hard-fought week on the court, opening with a pair of tough matchups before storming back to capture the championship at their home invitational Oct. 11. The Panthers put the early-week losses behind them in a big way, going a perfect 5–0 to win their home invite.

Dickman recognized for accomplishments

Wittenberg-Birnamwood senior Reese Dickman swam in her last home meet Oct. 2, when the Chargers hosted New London. During the break, the team recognized Dickman for her accomplishments.

 

Big bruin creates happy 9/11 memory for fire chief

The brotherhood of firefighters is legendary, and never was that bond shining stronger than in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of 343 New York City firefighters.

That anniversary remains a bittersweet one for all firefighters as they recall the disaster but also the heroics displayed on an epic scale.

Pulaski, Bonduel girls win respective cross country meets

Shawano’s Josiah Kuehl placed fifth among small-school male runners at the Seymour Invitational on Oct. 9. His time was 17:33.4.

Also in the top 10 was teammate Aloysius Frechette, who placed ninth in 18:15.6.

Rounding out the top five for the Hawks were Teagan Harkey in 12th in 18:33.5, Beckett Hendricks in 16th in 18:41.3 and Quinten Harkey in 22nd in 18:52.6.

James Lange placed 27th, and Brayden Fish was 39th.

Tigerton wins important conference matchup

The Tigerton volleyball team traveled to CWC North foe Northland Lutheran for an Oct. 9 matchup that pitted two teams each sporting two conference losses so far this season.
